I remember when only falsetto singing and having two guitarists was metal.
I remember when only spandex, bleached hair, and speed licks were metal.
I've known people who said only anti-Christian bands were metal.
I've known people who said only English-speaking bands were metal.
I've known people who said that only caucasian bands, or bands that headbanged (is that a word), or hell, only non-gay people were metal.
They were all wrong. There are a
few things needed to get close to the definition, and a lot of bands are blurring the lines, but I say
Fuck it, bring it on! Bring in the new blood, and let's smear it all around! 
An aside... Rob Halford has (almost) always had short hair (until he went totally bald)
and is gay,
and sings like a motherfucker. Damn straight he's as metal as it gets. We need a fucking Halford Smiley!!
