I've actually had experience with like HD147/Maximizer thing and I think you'll like it. It does add some 3D quality and it makes the sound bigger..however a maximizer is a temporary fix. What you'd really want is a 10 band EQ, which is basically a maximizer and more. I would say this would also be the safest bet, as you don't know how new speakers, tube preamps, etc will effect the sound of the tube head you'll be buying. The 10 band is something that you'll always use with any amp, and it's also the cheaper solution. Save the speaker changes and all that for when you get your tube amp.
