Why do so many folks have a problem with numetal?
Granted, it's not the most technical stuff, most of the time, but there's a lot of music that's not technical that doesn't bear the same burden.
Of course, it's often a marriage of rock/metal and hip-hop... could that be the problem?
Now, granted, most of the numetal "me too" bands were crap, but that's true in every genre. A lot of hip-hop is crap... see previous statement. But hell, there's a lot of metal guitarists that play insanely fast, insanely cleanly, and couldn't write a halfway decent song if they were given all but the last chord of "Sgt. Pepper."
Don't hate numetal because Fred Durst is a talentless ego-ridden hack.

Love it because the best examples fuse two disparate musical genres into something that speaks to some people, both musically and lyrically.

I'm excited to see that comes of this band... could be great (half of Geoff Tate's solo CD comes to mind), could be a horror (and the other half of Geoff Tate's CD

). I'm leaning towards the up-side of the middle.
