The thing is that I don't like much the sound of the fat strings.
I look at it like this. Standard tuning on a 6 string is E.
So basically I'm tuning down a step to D and adding a higher string tuned to A or G right?
Is the problem that the higher string can't handle the tension?

I'm trying to understand the logic here. Mind you I'm an idiot
Tuning to D is less tension than E standard and you have an extra high string really. So I'm thinking
Extra Slinky, .008 -.038,
Ernie Ball Nickel Wound .046
Tuned To D standard with top string .008 tuned to G or A ?
So is my logic flawed or what gentlemen?
