the best cab i've heard one through is the orange ppc412. Sound A LOT better than the standard 412 recto cab. The C90s loaded recto cabs are supposed to sound completely different though, and many users on this board swear by them. A standard marshall 1960 g12t75 cab will probably be the cheapest cab you could get for it that'll sound decent.

if you like a modern tight tone, then switch it to BOLD and DIODE rectifier to start off. The modern channel with all knobs at midnight is then a good start for tweaking depending on your cab, guitars and room.

if i remember correctly, the FX-loop is parallel so you'll probably wan't to set the g-major in 'kill-dry' mode. Experiment with input and output volumes on the g-major on the FX-loop on the mesa to find what works best for you. LOTS of people are using rectos with g-majors so it can be definitely worked out!

boosting rectos is a MUST, imo. The added diode clipping before the first gain stage will tighten things up A LOT and give you more clarity and punch.
I've only boosted my (already parted) recto with a modded TS7 and it already sounded great. I still haven't got the chance to play a bloody murder, though. I'm sure its one of the best boost/overdirve pedal money can buy.
