Really interesting (but unfortunately not very entertaining for me). This is what I've been trying to grapple with for a while. There's a lot of stuff out there that is essentially atonal (I mean pitch/timber immaterial, not 12-tone, no tonal center) and still very entertaining. The pitch/timber really only serves to delineate the components of the rhythm. I'm encountering too much meedly-meedly-meedly tonally complex, but nearly rhythmically devoid music. The guitar has so much rhythmic potential that seems unused. That's another factor as to why I'm starting over, this time with a strong five-finger, free right-hand approach.
