Like you said first, I think if you had a luthier install this, he just ground down the "hook" on the treble side so he wouldn't have to do any routing. I like that solution.

I'm wondering if your string spacing issue could have been resolved by a tighter spaced locknut. You can get the OFR with different nut widths. Or did you end up trying the OFR trem with the Carvin locknut and still didn't have any luck?
