The intensive programs I use are basically Sonar, Sony Acid, SoundForge. I don't do any 3-D rendering. I do use Adobe Software for some designing purposes.

I don't play games at all, so thats out as well. My only quirk with my present processor is that the minute I take a couple of Plugins, I hit 100% CPU utilization and the apps quit on me. I don't like that during the song creation process. Early on, I used to use plugins in a wasteful manner, but recently I switched to a more modest and efficient use for the same. But I still hit 100%.

Also, anyone have an idea on how stable the Over Clocked PCs are for DAWs ?

I'm looking to upgrade, so I really want to make an informed decision on whats best suited for my needs. I don't need an SLI machine, so I don't want to waste money on things that I wouldn't really need.
