The gate in the g-major is good, and will deal with most amps, and served me well for a while. However, if you have a noisy as hell amp (most of the older high gain ones) then it doesn't cut it. Also for fast gating it does kill your tone and doesn't react to nuances in playing, as in it will cut you off if you are going for that rung out chord if you gate too heavily, like with most noise gates.
But yeah, too much gear really can kill a lot. For instance, stay away from the BBE, it's something noone should ever need really...
So what noodles said. If it works, then don't waste money on something you don't need!
