From my own experience MIDI controllers SUCK for wah. The MIDI protocol simply doesn't have enough bits to change smoothly enough and I often heard a "zipper" effect as the wah changed. I chose instead to hook an EV-5 continuous expression pedal into my GP-8 for wah effects. Got rid of the zipper effect but the sweep was still all wrong and it's difficult to get the toe kick on/off to function through judicious programming without fawking with the sweep. Right in the midst of your killer solo you toe down a little too far and you lose your wah. Not cool.
I finally just went and bought a wah pedal.
