7321 strap button issue

Well, about a week and a half into having my 7321 I noticed that the back strap button is wobbling. Now, I had installed strap locks on it, but hadn't noticed anything at that time, so I thought maybe the screw wasn't long enough, so I dig out the original strap buttons, and come to find out - that screw seems to be too short, too! Plus, the screws aren't gripping anymore. What can I do to firmly affix a strap button to this piece without having to resort to drilling a new hole (which I really don't want to do, me + drill = lots of blood, screaming, ambulances, etc)? Would wood glue provide a permanent fix, or just mask the problem for a limited time period?
