Nothing wrong with going with what's economically sound, but I just hear people always whining about their amps (not these in particular, just in general) and their calling card is always "I can sound just like -blank- I bought this because I couldn't afford -blank- I'm gonna replace this with -blank-". I started out on a crappy fender 25watt frontman combo, when it was time to grow up I waited and saved, put in extra hours etc. until I bought exactly what I wanted, not something that sounded kinda like it and was cheaper and it just makes me feel good knowing I got what I wanted and I earned it. That's mainly what it is, "I earned the amp I wanted". For me personally I wouldn't have appreciated it as much if I bought an appetizer amp to hold me over until I got the main course. You want a recto? Buy a recto, you'll feel good buying it, looking at it, and playing it and most of all hearing it.

Haha! Funny, I started with (and still have) the 25w frontman combo! That's all I had, because I was never at all serious playing guitar (I was a drummer up until 2 years ago-ish). So when me and my friend started my current band, I abandonded the drums for guitar. Problem was, I only had my 25w fender amp, and I had previously saved money to get my drums, so therefore I had no money saved up.
But at least i'm perfectly happy with my current setup.
