yeah, its tough in a band situation but you gotta weigh the options. do you, let everyone contribute something to a song just to inflate their egos or do you work on riffs that could turn out to be awesome and sit on it until its ready to show them? sit your band down and talk to them about the process and work it out. I've left bands because of this exact problem. Songs get ruined by the too many chefs in a kitchen deal. Obviously everyone wants their own say but it has to fit the song.

We have our internal squabbles like all bands, and one of the things we disagree on is just that; the writing process.
I am not one for democratic songwriting, since it can very easily become one hell of a mess. You should have heard one of the songs that didn't make it on to the demo, that we also slammed together in the rehearsal space :S Every riff is preceded by a second-long break because I just could not come up with any kind of transition at all :S
