Dead Heart In A Dead World was a Mesa Dual Rectifier. I'd guess the speakers were Celestion V30s or Mesa Black Shadows. The Black Shadows definitely aren't middy, they're more balanced and have a big bottom end. V30s are middy but kind of have buzzy mids, as opposed to the VHT speaker's growly aggressive cool mids.
The main thing I hate about v30s is the harsh high end.
They record well because engineers can just cancel out the fizz, but as a live rig I wouldn't touch them. Yes I just made that bold, it's that great of a point by me :pat on the back:
