I'd go with a Dual over a Single IMO, with regards to the Recto-verb (which is the only single I like). The Duals and triples aren't as harsh and just sound overall more musical.

Check out www.harymonycentral.com forums; they have a few deals on Mesa Triples. While you may not need or use all 150 watts, the headroom is nice and they are definitely the tightest rectos next to the Roadster. You will easily find Triples in the low $1ks, as well as Duals. You can't go wrong with either one. They sport three channels over the Single's two, and you have the rectifier switch which can be very useful at times (the Single does not; it relies exclusively on silicone diodes).
