I find taping the frets to be completely irrelevant when polishing frets, however. In six years, I did it once... then realized it was pretty pointless.
Just be careful with the steel wool. Rosewood is fairly robust, relative to something like fine steel wool. It also removes gunk, although a good board cleaning/polish does an even better bjob of that. |
