I don't want to sound like an ass but that's just a load of bullshit! If you look at the dimarzio site and look up the specs for the evo 7 u will see it is a very middy pickup. It is really oriented towards midrange and uppermidrange/treble without sounding shrill of piercing. The bass is focused and tight, it will not get muddy or flabby sounding.
At home I got 2 rg7620's 1 with emg 707's and 1 with an Evo 7 in the bridge and it fucking slays. It's tight like hell, articulate and because of the midrange it cuts like a hot knife through butter. Great tone for tight rytm playing as well as for leads. Clean sound is also pretty ok with this pickup, it's no single coil sound but it's capable of doing quite nice clean sounds, it will stay clean. It's my personal favorite dimarzio for 7 strings.
