There's nothing that says you have to play it at the speed Vai plays it at. It sounds pretty nice slowed down. The thing I was getting at really is that it has quite a few useful tricks embedded in it. 6 string arps, string skipping, and a nice picking passage. And the ostinato thing in the beginning is good for your pinky.
When I first learned it it was probably at like half speed or something.
