not sure when this turn into a political discussion... but ok?
Hey Jeff. Just outa curiosity, do you have a degree in business or marketing? Because I'm fairly certain a company as large as Ibanez has at least a handful of people working for them that do, just as any other large business of any kind would. From what i've seen, Ibanez is a brand that has grown to be one of the big names in an industry that's had two big names for a long time. Maybe they're not up there with Fender or Gibson as far as recognition and popularity, but I think they get honorable mention at this point. Companies don't achieve that kind of success by not knowing exactly what they're doing. We can cry and moan all we like, but they're going to continue making money through methods that have been proven to them over the years. It sucks that those methods aren't what we want, but there's nothing you can do. Unless you got a petition of several thousand potential customers (not sure exactly how large their target market really is) to suggest they start offering an alternative 7-string.
*sigh* Big companies are big companies. There are some that are slightly less heartless than others... But it's a capitalist world out there and, unfortunately, that's all anyone sees at the end of the day. Personally I'd look to get endorsed by ibanez if i started playing in a serious band. There's a couple ideas i'd like to bounce of the LACS. SZ7 sounds pretty sweet to me.
anybody think it's possible the lack of inspired 7's in the new model year has been to push some of the market more towards the 2228? That's what i was thinking about.
