Okay, back when I joined this site, I posted a pic or two of my first and only 7, an ESP/LTD M-207, bought used at a local shop.
It was... shall we say... nasty.
Blurry, but you can see the rust
The bridge, the screws... the pickup pole pieces??
The neck was in bad shape too...
But, we have the technology! We can rebuild her!
I get by with a little help from my friends
The strings are gone, the bridge is gone...
What the hell is going on here? Never did figure it out. Oh well...
I took the bridge completely apart and soaked the pieces in 3in1 oil, in the bowl above (
sans kitten)... for 3 days! Well, actually, I couldn't get back to it for a few days, but once I did...
A little working inspiration...
and a little more help...
Wow, that's a LOT better! 3in1 oil and a toothbrush can work wonders!
I went to do the neck... no masking tape! Wait... what's this?
Working that thang...
the final results in the next post!
...and here she is!!!
I love the way the fingerboard turned out!
I'm loving this...
Thanks for indulging me... it took me two weeks, all together... setting up the bridge was a major pain in the ass

but I finally got it.
Some endorsements:
-the Dunlop kits are TERRIFIC! Easy to use and great results!
-3in1 oil is magic elixir for corroded metal
-JustStrings.com's single strings are deemed TRUE. I had a set of D'addario XL's that I could NOT get intonated... the JS house brand took one afternoon, and DONE. They sound and feel great. I'll never buy another brand.
