Well, soon to be 7-stringer. Just found this site the other day and found it absolutely loaded with info so i just couldn't help but join in the community.
I've been playing bass around 7 years now and guitar for about 3. Though i've never really been serious until the last year or two. I've just come off about a 6month guitar break too because of work etc. But i quit my crappy job and now i earn more money and have more time to play!
I used to own a cheap entry level Washburn 7 string but sold it because it was pretty average and wasn't nearly as nice to play as my other guitars.
Having said that, I'm currently building my own 7 string! Based on the RG shape with a similar neck. Mahogany Body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. I haven't bought all the hardware yet so I'm hoping to find some stuff on here since prices in Australia are outrageous! It should turn out lovely. (i hope!)
Here's some of my current toys.
First up is my gorgeous little RG570 which is undergoing major surgery. Swapped out the trem (for another project) and swapped in a wilkinson trem with ghost piezo pickups. It's also getting a D-Sonic and Air Norton put it and a new paint job. As you can see in the pic, testing is complete and now she just needs a her new paint job!
Second in line is my RG 2620 Prestige (in the background above). Mods: 3 way switch, Steve's special in bridge, Air Norton in neck and frets 21-24 scalloped.
Now for the noise. My lovely Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+. I love her! BUT. She has no cabinet! It's on my "to-buy" list. But it's hard to justify $2500+ for a mesa 4x12... I've been through a few cabs but none i've really loved (the best so far being a standard marshall JCM900 1960A cab).
