Try backing the EVO away from the strings a little. I had my X2N up really high until just recently and I had the same problems as you. Now I have it backed WAY off from the strings and it's tight and clear as could be. The EVO isn't as high output so you shouldn't have to back it off as much to get the same effect. Hope this helps!
