Like most of you, I've been reading everything I could find about this unfortunate event. Several people have weighed in across the spectrum of the music industry including bands that are on Ozzfest, DJ's, VJ's, managers, etc.
Apparently Bruce felt it necessary to dog a lot of things about Ozzy from the stage at several stops on the Ozzfest tour, as well as U.S. Troops, reality TV and whatever else. Honestly, I don't think that's too cool and I'm really not sure why he would do it...
Sharon Osbourne has released yet another "statement" in response to the statement posted by Maiden's manager on their fansite, once again stooping to childish name-calling, referring to Iron Maiden as an "opening act" (which I suppose technically they were, but gimme a break), publicly announcing the amount of money that Maiden were paid per-performance (OK if she wants, but to me, not cool), condoning the egg/lighter/beer/cup throwing, and ADMITTING to cutting the power HERSELF. Now...if Bruce's aforementioned remarks were unprovoked, maybe Sharon felt the need to defend herself and her family. Even if they were provoked....OK, whatever...but her participation in, and orchestration of the acts at the show in San Bernardino are absolutely inexcusable. She could have chosen a method, time and place to say whatever she wanted. She could have kicked them off the tour. She could have reduced their set time. She could have pulled a "contract termination" on whatever grounds she wanted. She could have done just about anything she wanted, as she is in a management position with Ozzfest.
I suppose my point is that she could have done whatever she wanted IF she had done it in a manner commensurate with that of a manager of a production of the scale of Ozzfest. She could have come out smelling like a rose. As it stands, she has made a complete ass of herself and her family, and has demonstrated that she will not hesitate to stoop to the lowest depths of UNprofessionalism imaginable. It's one thing to talk shit in a magazine or even on stage, but to tamper with a band's performance in the manner that was done is completely inexcusable. There is NO excuse whatsoever.
Oh yeah...and if the only target was Bruce, how come there's pics of Steve Harris and Jannick Gers with egg on/near them??
Up the fucking Irons!! and Long Live Ozz....
But Sharon, you can die now. We've had quite enough.
