i finally got my 3 way selector switch today and i'm going to wire up the emg's into my ibanez rg1570. the wiring diagram i'm using is this one:

my problem is, do the numbers 1-8 on the pickup selector switch correspond to the pin things (not sure what to call them)? if so, which way should the switch be facing so i know which is 1 and which is 8 (there's no spring/coil thing on my switch like there is in the diagram)?

the switch looks like this, but in a 3 way:

any help would be appreciated.
