The Carvin 6-string necks have gotten substantially thicker in the last several years. If you want a Carvin with a profile similar to a Jackson, get a used one that made between '88 and '95. The '88-'92 Carvins, in particular, had necks that were a lot like the Jackson profile. I had an '89 DC145 that had an awesome neck, though the tone wasn't much to write home about.

In recent years, though, Carvin has gone after the old fogey demographic that wants big fat guitar necks. The DC guitars aren't as bad as the California Customs that way, but even the DCs have gone away from the shredder neck, which is a shame because that's one of the things that Carvin did really well.
