Deffinately the pickups dude. I have an ibanez RG7321 with the same pickups and i play out of a 5150 but i had the same problem. I plugged in an LTD Stephen carpentor 7 (which has 10X better pickups for a stock guitar) and I had absolutely nothing interfering with my tone. So im buying a set of EMG HZ's, or 707's for the ibanez and yeah, i blast that amp all the time and those Vintage pickups that ibanez uses are junk. no complaints about the guitar besides that.
