Don't feel the need to drop your cash for gear that you might not see the benefits of right now. It would probably help if you posted up a clip of your tone.
I'd give it a go using LePou's free guitar amp plug-ins and see if that makes it any better: they sound pretty incredible and they're free - what's not to love?
