Then each quartertone will be a few cents off, the step sizes become unequal, it will not be 24TET, and you then can't modulate a scale without changing it. It's the same as in 12TET: fret 2 is not halfway between frets 1 and 3, it's just close. It's important to use the exact measurements calculated by a microtonal fret calculator such as Fretfind2D.
