On my 6505+ head I keep my eq (bass, mid, treble) all on 6 and the presence is 6 the resonance is 5. Gain is on 6 and here's the best part...I use the rhythm channel on crunch with only a BBE Boosta Grande on 5. Doing this will eliminate the fizz you get from using the lead channel. That fizz is more useful on leads anyway.
I'm running through an old Ampeg 4x12 cab with 2 vintage 30's and 2 g12t-75's. I have my mic set up almost against the grill cloth pointed dead center at one of the lower speakers (vintage 30). Also don't turn your gain up so high on your pedal. Use more amp gain to clean things up.
