Ibanez almost always ships out guitars that have junk setups plus things move during shipping. Most decent music stores quickly set them up once they get there so they at least play ok when people test them out (except guitar center). If you had the guitar ordered you missed the middle stage of a half-assed setup. By the sound of it your neck relief isn't set right at all and I'll bet the strings are way lower than what they're meant to be. This can cause the string to barely touch off a fret when you pick it making a kinda faint harmonic.
