Try out as many SS amps as you can. Shop with your ears. One player's good sounding SS, is another player's crap tone. Lately, I've rediscovered the Peavey Transtube series (the silver stripe, and red stripes are the best ones of the series). If they're set up right, they'll just about rip your head off. I bought my latest Transtube (a red stripe Studio Pro 112), alst week, and dialed in, it's been great for the uber metal tones. It's made me realize that maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to get rid of the Transtube Bandit I had 11 years ago. YMMV
