How does one go about doing a finish like this?

I've been looking at getting my Schecter professionally refinished (or maybe home refinish if it's as easy as rubbing filler into the grain), and was considering doing this particular style of finish..

My schecter is a 1999 ash model, so yeah. and for those who love my schecter's finish already, it'll be staying brown but I'd just like to have the ash grain be outlined a bit so it looks more natural and like the ash bodied guitar it is. I sort of feel like the dark finish on it sorta eliminates the beauty of the natural ash grain
