It certainly seems that metal is on the rise, but then again, being extended range players and so deeply consumed by the music, we kinda live in a bubble. Kinda like how bands are starting to employ 8 strings, we automatically assume they're gaining popularity, when in actuality, they make up like 2% of all guitar sales.
