For vsti midi things I recommend anything that looks like Quantum Leap or Native Instruments. They have the most awesome samples and it all works really nice.

I also use garritan personal orchestra plugin for the orchestral stuff.

And the free and tiny MDA JX-10 analog synth

Ezdrummer is my bestest friend
