Not-so-new guy here.
I've been a member for a year plus, but more-or-less just 'lurked' on the forums: watching from a distance, and getting valuable information. Thief, perhaps?...
I tend to stay in the guitar-range frequencies, but I like to play bass as well, and anything in between.
Been playing on-and-off for whereabouts of seven years. I don't have a huge rig or 5+ guitars - I've got what I need. Guitar -> GT-8 -> Combo.
People call me Frankenstein for my habit of modding the ever-loving hell out of any guitar I buy, and recycling parts to use later. Got quite a collection of loose little components going...
Recently, I've taken up building my own instruments from scratch. Necks, bodies, etc. My current project is a neck-through Ironbird-style six-string baritone [28"], and I plan on making my own extended-range guitar [8, more than likely - never tried one!] in the near future.
I like to stick to a DIY line of thinking - you learn more that way, I've found - at least, with 'luthiery' [term used very loosely]. Sure, custom shops will build your dream machine for a price - but, if you have the knowledge, materials, and abilities to
Do
It
Yourself, go for it; the quality may not match LACS's work, but I believe that crafting it yourself makes it all-the-more
your own.

Cheesy, yet true.
Sooner or later, I'll figure out winding my own pickups, as well.
Just want to give up major thanks to all the forum contributors - past and present - for [inadvertently, unknowingly] answering most [if not all] of my ERG-related questions. Invaluable technical help. Plus, great site overall. Awesome stuff.
