well, i have never had any expirence with this amp, so i can't tell you much, but what i can tell you is that by pushing it, he means using a over drive pedal, like a peavy TS-9 or maxon OD808 in the front of the amp (guitar-> OD pedal-> amp imput jack)
people do this alot to give a gain boost or tighten up some low end sag on amps like the duel and triple rectifiers that tend to be a little too loose in the bass department, i dont know if you knew all this or not, but it just sounded like you didnt from what you posted
