You probably COULD do it...
...but you'd lose all the meta-humor of the ending "You are all puppets!" at the ending. If you were going to do something like this, a Jim Henson style puppet movie would be cool, but a live human performance just wouldn't come together as well.

I remember, when I was in school, we had a troupe come in who performed using these big 10'-12' tall puppets that could be controlled by one or two people. I'd imagine something like that'd be feasible, and would be easy enough to observe from the audience.
