| I switch between two, depending on my mood. spinal puppet is the best head on there without the metal shop upgrade, but it depends dramatically on what cab you use with it. Tubescreamer is a must, 0 drive, bout 40 gain, and 100% tone IMO. As for cabs, green 25s will give you a really organic, shithot tube sound with lots of bite, very thrash metal, where-as the line 6 4x10 (that's right, the line6 4x10!) gives you a really fuckin ridiculously heavy modern Meshuggah/Mnemic sorta sound.
People ask me all the time if i've got the metal upgrade and the answer, quite simply, is no. I'm sure the metal pack is amazing, but i get some fuckin fabulous tones out of the xt with no upgrade. That's not to say i'm not gonna do it haha, i just can't afford it at the mo! |
