EdgeCrusher is just really nice
As one of the few people to have actually owned the JB7/Jazz7 combo in a basswood Ibby, I must say that its not quite as bad as people make it out be. The body wood isn't going to change the tonal characteristics of the pickups 180 degrees, it will just enhance or detract certain frequencies (ok, mostly detract w/ basswood ), but they will still sound like Duncans.

While its certainly not the best choice, especially for metal, the JB and Jazz produced a very fat, warm, singing tone in my 7621. Once I raised the pole pieces on the low B string of the JB, thanks to Noodles' recommendation, it tightend up the low string and got rid of most of the flubbiness. Still not as tight as most Dimarzios, but it was good for a hard rock sound ala Tool, excelled for singing leads, and the cleans were amazing, some of the best I've heard.
Both me and my bandmate at the time preffered the JB and Jazz to the Blaze's in his Universe. The blaze's were tighter, but very bland and sterile sounding in comparison. I did end up replacing the Duncans with the DS7/AN7 combo, but I do miss that sweet Alnico V goodness sometimes.
