hm... which albums do you mean? afaik, 'dead hearth in a dead world', 'enemies of reality' is all dual rec and triple rec, respectively. 'This godless endeavor' is a dual rec and a krank rev. I've got this from the sneap forum, so i guess it's accurate. Nonetheless, there's pics of jeff in the studio next to a peavey XXX (along a racktifier, 5150 and jcm, also)

I really my fireball, but i think it's still not as raw and thick sounding as a recto. I like the fireball BY FAR over the powerball. The powerball is the less raw and more processed sounding out of the two. I think the fireball/powerball excel at single-note riffery at lower tunings and extremely tight palm-muting (think meshuggah, textures), since they are very tight and articulate.
They're too metallic-sounding (or djenty) for getting that raw, thick sound like on the aforementioned nevermore albums, IMO.


For me, Scar symmetry is a good example of what a fireball is capable of.
