The mags want to repel each other when placed end to end like that so it can help to tack them in place with a drop of CA during assembly. I'd also recommend the coil is held between two solid pieces during winding if you're using flatwork that has any kind of flexibility. This will help prevent the ends flaring out.

Good luck to you, Eric. The trekkie hollowbody you did looked sweet IIRC. What else is in the works there?
