I guess you missed the "one of many reasons" part. Other reasons include steroids, overpaid whiny players, shift of focus from team performance to the individual, playing the sport is far more fun than watching the sport, and last but not least, watching three hours worth of the same thing is incredibly fucking boring.
I wish the world's best high school teachers got paid one tenth of what the world's best baseball players made.
