I had one in the late 80s and used it for about 10 years. It was a great piece of kit for its day. It was really the first "modelling" amp. While it didn't digitally model amplifiers, it had so much capability and a ton of great presets.
They sell for dirt cheap, so you really can't go wrong. Buy one, check it out, and sell it if you don't like it.
It won't do "crushing metal" but it will do some pretty good dirt and distortion tones.
