Rivera Knucklehead arrives
The Rivera Knucklehead 100 just came in off ebay - used, some slight scuffs, new tubes, with footswitch, and spare power amp tubes - $850.
Let me say that the amp is very heavy in weight but compact - think Mesa over Marshall. Other than that, it looks like a head usually does.
Without further ado (and I didn't want to give a long in-depth review here - just a heads up to people interested), I have to say that this is an awesome amp and for the second hand price it cannot be beat. It can give you the tone of a Triple Rec but with more clarity and more useable gain. I sold an ENGL Fireball ($1100 shipped) to get the dough for this, and it is a much better amp than the Fireball. Here's why: (IMHO) the clean channel is better, it's more versatile, and the gain is useable at any point, and both channels have boosts that are controlled with the footswitch. There is absolutely no mud on the low 7th string tuned to A and tremolo picked. Crystal clarity.
I recommend this amp to 7 string players looking for a top quality amp for a great price. Don't get ripped off like I did by trendy amp makers.
Feel free to rip me a new one.
