First of all, I'd like to formally introduce myself. I'm 17 and I've been playing guitar for about 4 1/2 years.
Since I've decided that guitar is definitely something I want to be serious about, I need something to replace the Crate amp I purchased several years ago. I can't stand listening to it anymore.
I'd like not to exceed $1500 altogether. I've been looking at cabs and it seems like I can get a reliable 2x12 (probably a Vader, maybe Avatar) for around $400. I'm probably going to get a good OD (Barber or Bloody Murder) to run in front, which leaves me about $1000 for an amp head.
You all seem very knowledgeable, so I am open to suggestions. I'm looking for a tight sound with lots of midrange cut but without harsh highs. Used is an option as long as it's still in good condition. I'm leaning towards tubes, but wouldn't be against a good solid-state head either.
There are currently two Nomad 100 heads (one 6L6, one EL34) on EBay. Would these be good for what I'm looking for?
Thanks for reading.

The only creative accounting I have seen is Bush's plan to balance the budget by 2015.
Unless, of course, he plans on skyrocketing the debt at such a rate to approach infinity on an
asymptote, causing a giant budget calculator divide by zero error that reboots the country.
