| Intelligent Design got its start as a way to try and philisophically prove the existence of God. It later became a cornerstone of the Deism movement, which is a belief in God but a rejection of organized religion. Many of our founding fathers velonged to this school of thought. But in a nutshell that's it. It was never science. It was merely try to use philosophy to prove that God exists. No more no less. The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music.
